Alaska Regional Hospital Auxiliary Donates Funds for Life-Saving Equipment

Anchorage, AK - An $11,650 donation from the Alaska Regional Hospital Auxiliary to the Loren Marshall Foundation will soon equip Anchorage Fire Department ambulances with LIFENET System modems.

These modems transmit electrocardiograms (EKGs) and patient vital signs directly from the field to doctors and nurses at the receiving medical facility. LIFENET’s technology uses wi-fi and cell phone technology to securely transmit from an ambulance to hospital computer, tablet or smart phone. This allows for local hospitals to receive digital information in real time and more efficiently prepare for the patient’s arrival, thereby reducing time to life-saving treatment.

With this donation, the Alaska Regional Hospital Auxiliary continues their long tradition of supporting emergency services in Anchorage. In the past they have provided funds to the Anchorage Fire Department for the purchase of thermal imaging devices and to the Anchorage Police Department for portable defibrillators (AED’s).

The Loren Marshall Foundation is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to sponsoring and promoting educational endeavors in emergency medicine.
