How Hospitals Are Treating Babies Caught In the Crosshairs of Alaska's Opioid Crisis

A troubling side effect of Alaska's spike in opiod abuse is getting increased attention from health care officials: drug-dependent babies who go through withdrawal in the first days of their lives. The news covered the project to build a 4-bed unit at Alaska Regional Hospital specifically designed to treat newborn babies suffering from drug addiction. The unit opened in October 2014.
