We believe that it is our role to assist you in learning how to safely feed your newborn, and we are very supportive of your right to choose the method of feeding their new baby.

If you choose to formula feed your infant, we will work with you and your family to become familiar with bottle-feeding. Our knowledgeable staff will answer your questions about formula and teach you the safest methods to ensure that your baby is eating properly.

If you choose to breastfeed your baby, we'll work closely with you to teach you the art of nursing. Breastfeeding a baby is a learned skill, and each of our Family Birth Center nurses are qualified to assist you with learning how to breastfeed your baby.

We also have Board Certified Lactation Consultants on-site who are available to assist mothers in working out any problems that may arise. The Lactation Consultants provide assistance to mothers in the NICU, the Mother/Baby unit, and the Pediatric unit.

Please call our Lactation Services office at (907) 264-1773 with any questions about nursing your baby.
