Our LifeFlight team ensures that patients receive high-quality care during aeromedical transport. LifeFlight offers critical care aeromedical service throughout Alaska and to facilities in the Lower 48.
Ours is the only non-military hospital in Alaska where fixed wing aircraft can taxi to the door, saving precious time for our patients.
LifeFlight is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), and has been since 2007. CAMTS is an independent non-profit organization that audits air medical transport programs.
We have been serving the state of Alaska with medevac service since 1985 - the first in the state to meet the national medevac trends for utilizing flight teams comprised of Registered Nurses and Certified Paramedics.
All LifeFlight teams have critical care experience and receive ongoing, intensive aeromedical training. The LifeFlight crew members are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advance Life Support, Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, and either Transport Nurse Advanced Trauma Course or Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum.
A Communications Specialist dispatches and arranges flights, along with coordinating information and respondence. Board certified Emergency Physicians are available around the clock in the Emergency Department of Alaska Regional Hospital for medevac consultation.
Year round open access via taxiway from Anchorage's Merrill Field, one of the busiest small plane airports in the nation, facilitates fast and convenient entry to our hospital.
