Your Advocate for Survival

If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, you realize the importance of treating the whole person and not just the disease. At Alaska Regional, you’ll find cancer fighting research, detection, treatment and clinical trials, as well as education and support.

Skilled physicians on our campus specialize in cancer of the colon, lung, breast, prostate, bladder and gynecological cancers.

We offer chemotherapy, brachytherapy, radiation therapy, cancer pain management and outpatient infusion. Our surgical robot, the first in the state, is used to treat prostate and gynecological cancers.

The Alaska Regional Hospital Cancer Care Center is accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC). Receiving care at a CoC-Accredited Cancer program ensures that you will receive:

  • Comprehensive care, including a range of state-of-the-art services and equipment.
  • A multispecialty, team approach to coordinate the best treatment options.
  • Information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options.
  • Access to cancer-related information, education, and support.
  • A cancer registry that collects data on type and stage of cancers and treatment results and offers lifelong patient follow-up.
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement of care.
  • And, most importantly, quality care close to home.

Cancer Care Center

We have staff and resources to support you through this journey. An oncology social worker and a cancer care patient coordinator help patients navigate the medical system. In the Cancer Boutique, we offer wigs and knitted caps as well as support groups and classes for patients and their loved ones.

Knowledge is Strength 

Because we believe knowledge is one of the tools to fighting cancer, we offer free educational seminars throughout the year, and we’ve been participating in clinical trials since 1992.

Our Partner: Alaska Cancer Care Alliance 

The Alaska Cancer Care Alliance (ACCA) is an organization designed to help cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones throughout their journey, both during and post treatment. The goal is to ensure that no one is alone by linking survivors with the appropriate resources and creating new ones to address the emotional, social and financial needs of the patient. 

The ACCA was developed by a group of oncologists who saw the need to close the gap in communication and is looking to link organizations and resources in order to better provide services to cancer patients. Through navigation, workshops and support, they are here to help!
