Laboratory Services
Alaska Regional’s Outpatient Laboratory is a full-service laboratory offering the latest technology to help people live longer, healthier lives. We are a leader in all types of medical testing for hospital patients and outpatients.
Our laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and is staffed with a highly qualified team of friendly professionals who pride themselves on returning quick and accurate results to you and your physician.
All laboratory testing requires a licensed practitioner’s order. Pre-collected patient samples labeled with the patient’s name, date of birth and accompanied by a licensed practitioner’s order, will be accepted for testing. Patient safety dictates that unlabeled samples will not be accepted.

This location offers all pre-operative work-ups for surgical patients as well as regular blood draw services. Surgical patients should access this lab location as the rest of the pre-operative services are located in the admitting area.
Registration Process
1. Check in at the admitting desk. The clerk will take your name and date of birth.
2. Your name will be called by an admitter who will ask for your demographic information, insurance provider details or payment information.
3. After being registered, have a seat. A phlebotomist will call you for your blood draw or test.
Surgical patients: During your wait, you may have other portions of your pre-operative work-up completed. If you are called while you are being served in another area, you will be called next when you return to the Admitting waiting area. Before you leave, be sure to check in with the pre-operative nurse to complete your medical history.
Pap smears, cultures, urine and drop-off samples should be taken to the main hospital lab location. These samples must have a valid order with them.
