Gynecological surgery

When medication and non-invasive procedures are unable to relive symptoms, surgery remains the accepted and most effective treatment for a number of gynecologic conditions. These conditions may include:

  • Cervical cancer
  • Uterine cancer
  • Uterine fibroids
  • Uterine prolapse
  • Endometriosis
  • Hysterectomies
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Menorrhagia or excessive bleeding

Robotic surgery is now an option for a number of gynecologic procedures, including hysterectomies. The da Vinci® Surgical System may be the most effective, least invasive treatment option for some patients. Visit surgery services at Alaska Regional Hospital for more information.

Female incontinence

Female incontinence can be a distressing condition that adversely affects your quality of life. Fortunately, it almost always stems from an underlying condition that is treatable. Depending on your condition, treatment could include simply making adjustments to your diet and nutrition, or perhaps minimally invasive surgery to correct a physical defect.
